It's January again, and that means it's time for my annual blog to ring in the new year. In 2012, I celebrated a different holiday each day in January, according to when they took place throughout the year. Those adventures can be found here. In 2013, I did something that I had never done before each day, and those adventures can be found here. And in 2014, I had someone teach me how to do something new each day. Those adventures can be found here. (Wow, I've had a lot of adventures...)
2014 was an amazing year for me, quite possibly my best year. I married the love of my life, a woman who makes me a better person, and I'm incredibly lucky to be her husband. We bought our dream house in our dream neighborhood, and we have settled in nicely there. We both started down new paths in our careers, and every day seems like a new opportunity for joy and wonder.
Yes, 2014 would have already been life changing if it had stopped there. But it didn't. Because in September, we found out that we were going to have a baby.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
That scream is equal parts excitement, joy, and absolute terror. Because I have helped to make another human being, and I am going to have to help make him or her a functioning citizen of the world. As someone who's office contains no fewer than four lightsabers at any given time, this might be a challenge.
Our due date is in June, so I'm hoping that will give me time to get ready for the new addition to our family. And to get a jump start on this, I plan on doing something each day in January to prepare for having a baby and being a dad. This might include learning how to put on a diaper or test tasting baby food. I might build a crib, and I might lose my mind. Stay tuned this month to see how it all turns out!
